CenturyLink wins FCC MTIPS task order for internet service

CenturyLink has won a new task order to equip FCC’s IT center in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, with Managed Trusted Internet Protocol Services (MTIPS). This IT facility serves as the primary intake center for all incoming FCC inquiries and complaints. This award was made via the Networx Enterprise contract and is worth about $175,000 a year for up to five years, or a total of $875,000.

It is an expansion of the services CenturyLink currently provides to the FCC. In 2012, CenturyLink won a task order to provide MTIPS to the FCC that was evaluated at $2.64 million through 2017.

As a managed security service that provides secure connectivity to the internet and external networks, MTIPS is part of the General Services Administration’s (GSA’s) multibillion-dollar Networx telecom and networking services contract.

MTIPS enables agencies to comply with the Office of Management and Budget’s Trusted Internet Connection initiative. Winning more task orders on the Networx contract will help CenturyLink enhance its profile as a government network contractor.

It also gives the telco another proof point as it helps government customers transition to the GSA’s Enterprise Infrastructure Solutions contract, which is part of the agency’s Network Services 2020 strategy.
