The cable market is fielding "super DVRs" (digital video recorders) such as Cisco's (Nasdaq: CSCO) Explorer 9800 Hybrid Video Gateway Series, which offers six tuners and 2 terabytes of storage space. The Explorer device takes the top spot on FierceCable's list of the top super DVRs. Besides Cox, Cisco's device has resonated mainly with a number of small and mid-sized cable operators including Atlantic Broadband, WideOpenWest, BendBroadband and Buckeye CableSystem.
