Working with Ciena's Blue Planet, Cologix announced on Wednesday the launch of its new cloud connectivity platform, Cologix Access Marketplace
The software-defined networking (SDN) platform was designed to directly connect customers to the cloud in real time. Starting with Amazon Web Services (AWS) Direct Connect and Microsoft Azure ExpressRoute, Cologix's new virtual cloud on-ramp solution enables private, secure, and faster connectivity to the hyperscale cloud providers.
Cologix said it would soon offer the virtual on-ramp connectivity to other major cloud providers. Cologix currently offers direct on-ramps to Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud Platform and IBM Cloud.

Within existing Cologix owned interconnection hubs, customers can now customize secure connectivity to one or multiple clouds in minutes by using an automated self-serve portal to meet the security, connectivity and growth needs of its business customers.

In order to provision its new virtual on-ramp marketplace, Denver-based Cologix worked with Blue Planet, which was split out as an independent division from Ciena in February. Cologix is using Blue Planet's multi-domain service orchestration to orchestrate and automate its new cloud service.
By using Blue Planet, Cologix can help its enterprise customers increase their service agility and business velocity by eliminating their reliance on manual cloud connect processes.
