Could a more powerful Verizon Wireless put FiOS in peril?

After months of speculation, Verizon (NYSE: VZ) finally pulled the trigger to purchase Vodafone's 45 percent stake in Verizon Wireless for $130 billion. While this investment will give the telco full control of its wireless operations, Jim Barthold, editor of FierceIPTV, opines in his latest Editor's Corner that this purchase could signal the end of FiOS as a viable wireline broadband product to cable's DOCSIS-based networks.
