It remains to be seen if Microsoft will eventually issue another bid to acquire Yahoo!, or if Google will woo Yahoo! (love that bit) away with a partnership before that happens, but telcos probably hope that Microsoft wins the day. That's because some telcos already partner with both Microsoft and Yahoo!, and others with at least one of the two, while Google remains the possibly evil empire in the eyes of most telcos. Light Reading points out how Microsoft's IPTV solutions can be married with Yahoo! applications and search capabilities to enhance telcos IPTV offerings. That should make things easier, but integration is always the devil in the details, isn't? Perhaps if Google and Yahoo! form a partnership, it finally could help change the way the traditional telecom industry perceives Google, and the existing partnerships telcos have with Yahoo! could be enhanced in the bargain.
