DOCSIS 3.0 soon to have its day

What: CableLabs' DOCSIS 3.0 specification

Why you should care: The cable TV industry has fought the bulk of the broadband war with DOCSIS 2.0, which supported access speeds better than what telcos could offer until they began to turn to broadband-bonding technologies and fiber upgrades. DOCSIS 3.0 gives cable players the ability to use channel-bonding to reach bandwidth rates of at least 50 Mb/s.

Who's using it: Cable TV giant Comcast Corp. is a major proponent
