EarthLink leverages ADTRAN for its hosted business services suite

As EarthLink (Nasdaq: ELNK) goes forward with its Business Complete suite, it has employed ADTRAN's (Nasdaq: ADTN) switches, routers and gateways. Focused on providing solutions versus pipes to business customers, EarthLink Complete will provide a set of nationwide business-class voice, data, and Internet solutions.

Building on the assets Earthlink previously purchased from Deltacom and One Communications, the new service suite is available in any U.S. state. The Complete line combines hosted VoIP applications and private MPLS with network equipment, mobile and security options that take into consideration a business customer's own unique needs.

To deliver services to the customer premise as an integrated, hosted network management solution, EarthLink will deploy ADTRAN's NetVanta series of switches and routers and Total Access 900 series of IP Business Gateways.

While EarthLink has been building up a sizeable business services portfolio, the service provider has poised itself as more of a solutions provider versus just a lower-priced competitor. This solutions-centric path combined with its national reach will be two ways that it will be able to effectively compete against not only traditional incumbents, but also cable operators that are aggressively chasing larger business accounts.
