EarthLink puts business services management team in order

EarthLink (Nasdaq: ELNK) is getting its business services management team in order with the appointment of Mae Squier-Dow as President of EarthLink's Premier Business Solutions and Vikram Desai as President of National Accounts.

The two new units were developed to create a customer-focused approach for its growing business service base. Squier-Dow and Desai will report directly to EarthLink Chairman and CEO Rolla Huff.

Both Squier-Dow and Desai come to EarthLink with plenty of business telecom experience.

A 27-year telecom industry veteran, Squier-Dow most recently served as the SVP of Business Development at Current Group and was SVP of Sales and Service, President of Network Services and Chief Operating Officer at the former Choice One Communications. In her new role at EarthLink, Squier-Dow will be responsible for running EarthLink Business mid-market sales and account management teams.

Like Squier-Dow, Desai, who is charged with the management and growth of its larger customers, also has plenty of telecom pedigree to draw from. In addition to being a CEO of various data center and security startups, he was the COO of Radware and served as President of Global Accounts for Global Crossing (Nasdaq: GLBC) and in various leadership positions at the former Worldcom and MCI, now Verizon Business (NYSE: VZ).

Cardi Prinzi, Executive Vice President of Marketing will continue to oversee the service provider's marketing and shared services unit.

Putting these pieces of its management puzzle in order is key for EarthLink as it moves to establish credibility as a relatively new player in the competitive, but demanding larger business market segment that wants assurances that providers have the experience to handle its complex needs.
