Ex-Nortel executive Chenhong Huang to lead Tellabs' China efforts

Nortel may soon be nothing more than a telecom story gone wrong, but Dr. Chenhong Huang, the former President of Nortel China's sales, has found a new home as the vice president for Tellabs China.

In his new role, Huang will be in charge of directing Tellabs' sales, technical and operations in China. The timing of Huang's appoint couldn't be any better as Tellabs reported that while it had seen an uptick in Latin America, sales in Asia-Pacific were down slightly. Despite the near-term slowdowns, Tellabs China has grown its staff by "nearly 30 percent" in the past three years, according to a company release.

Huang comes to Tellabs from a 17-year career at Nortel where he most recently served as Nortel China's President of Carrier Sales overseeing wireless and wireline carrier business in China.
