FirstLight increases Vermont data center footprint

FirstLight Fiber has made its latest move to enhance its presence in the Northeast, announcing that it expanded its Vermont data center.

Located in Williston, Vt., this expansion will support local businesses by providing colocation space and reducing network latency for its wholesale carrier and retail business customers, the service provider said.

Being the second expansion of its Vermont data center, it will be able to better accommodate its own growth and that of its customers. FirstLight did not indicate if it would conduct expansions of data centers in its neighboring New England and New York regions.

This latest buildout comes during what has been an active time for the competitive provider.

Besides the data center expansion in Vermont, it recently completed the upgrade of its IP-based core, which integrated the various assets it acquired such as TelJet and SegTel. In addition, it recently began offering its wholesale Ethernet Access service throughout its entire footprint serving upstate New York and northern New England.
