France Telecom reportedly closing Boston area lab

Boston.com reports France Telecom is planning to close its Orange research and development lab (named for the FT subsidiary that operates as a business service provider in the U.S.) later this fall in an apparent cost-cutting move. The French telco has another Orange lab in Silicon Valley, but it is still a little surprising to see a foreign telco shutting down one of its outlets in the U.S. market not long after many international telcos were scrambling in recent years to get into the U.S. and North America via various ventures.
