GTT acquires Custom Connect to extend European, Middle East IP backbone

GTT has acquired Amsterdam-based provider Custom Connect, deepening the service provider’s low latency IP-based network connectivity in Europe and the Middle East.

Custom Connect has already developed a high-speed network that serves the world’s largest multinational enterprises and financial trading firms.

Specifically, the acquisition augments GTT’s portfolio of ultra-low latency services with low latency service from Frankfurt to London, New York and Chicago—three key financial routes.

Like other recent acquisitions GTT has made over the past year such as Hibernia, Perseus and Giglinx, the Custom Connect deal will also give the service provider another option to deliver low latency services to financial customers.

“The acquisition of Custom Connect extends GTT’s network and strengthens our service offerings in high growth financial markets,” said Rick Calder, GTT president and CEO, in a release.

Additionally, the acquisition aligns with GTT’s portfolio of cloud networking services, including Ethernet, IP and SD-WAN. It also deepens GTT’s base of multinational clients with highly strategic accounts

On a regional European basis, Custom Connect enhances GTT’s sales presence in the Benelux region.
