India service provider sector on rise

It was reported earlier this week that India's BSNL, the country's wireline/wireless incumbent, was considering a $10 billion initial public offering, but that was just the latest move in India's tremendously active telecom market. Light Reading reports that wireline/wireless telcos Reliance Communications and Bharti Airtel, armed with new licenses, are undertaking major network expansions. Verizon Communications also recently won a long-distance license for operations in India, and AT&T already is a force there.
