Industry keeps 100G tests coming

Just in case you thought otherwise, a world teetering on economic uncertainty has not forgotten about telecom technology innovation, or, more specifically, demonstrations of big-time bandwidth. Nortel Networks just announced that its has demonstrated 100 Gbps Ethernet traffic over a 100G wavelength at its lab in Ottawa. This announcement comes after Alcatel-Lucent's Bell Labs conducted a much-touted 100G transmission demonstration with Verizon Communications and Deutsche Telekom. It also comes about a month after Level 3 Communications, Juniper Networks and other parties joined in their efforts to create a 100G testbed aboard the Internet2 network. Tally-ho!
