Japan's KDDI has employed Epsilon's eConnect solution to extend its local access network reach to accommodate enterprise customers in Singapore and Hong Kong.
By leveraging eConnect, Epsilon said it will be able to simplify KDDI's ability to connect multiple enterprise locations by aggregating multiple local networks into what it says is a "single" solution.
Because eConnect can extend KDDI's MPLS network across these business hubs, customers will now be able to get connectivity from PoP to PoP and building to building.
The real value of this solution is taking the guesswork out of establishing agreements with other local providers when they need to address out-of-territory customer needs for Ethernet and IP-VPN services. Service providers like KDDI can get access to Epsilon's existing network-to-network interconnection (NNIs) and procure global local-access services without having to set up their own interconnects with other service providers directly.
"KDDI serves a range of corporate customers from Japanese SMEs through to MNCs and we needed a way to efficiently serve local-access demand without adding complexity to our operation," said Tamotsu Watanabe, general manager, Global ICT Business Division at KDDI, in release. "The answer was to outsource local-access networks with Epsilon's eConnect solution and give our customers reliable building-to-building connectivity in Hong Kong and Singapore."
Besides Singapore and Hong, Epsilon has established more than 500 service provider NNI arrangements to help service providers like KDDI address out-of-franchise needs in Asia, the Middle East, Africa and Europe.
