KGP to buy Embarq Logistics

One of the questions that lingered after CenturyTel announced its acquisition of Embarq--"What about Embarq Logistics?"--has been answered. KGP Telecommunications, a privately-held firm based in Minnesota, is acquiring the arm of Embarq that has provided logistics, distribution, materials management, equipment installation and other services to the Embarq and many other independent telcos. Overland Park, Kan.-based Embarq Logistics has almost 600 employees, and it is not yet clear if there will be job cuts related to the KGP buy. There had been some speculation last year before the CenturyTel-Embarq that Embarq Logistics could be sold.
