Lightower establishes low-latency route to New Jersey data center

Lightower Fiber Networks is capitalizing on the competitive New Jersey financial services hub for low-latency services by extending a diverse network route to DuPont Fabros Technology's NJ1 data center located in Piscataway, N.J.

The service provider claims that this network extension provides the lowest latency route from NJ1 to 1400 Federal Boulevard, located in Carteret, N.J. This build complements its established connectivity to other major financial service facilities in the New York City metro area.

To ensure network reliability, the new route includes diverse routes and dual points of entry.

As a reciprocal agreement both Lightower and DuPont Fabros customers can use the route to access major New York metro financial service facilities.

Extending its network to NJ1 is a major development for Lightower as its one of the largest data centers in the greater New York metro area.

Of course, Lightower is hardly alone in its desire to gain a greater foothold in the NJ area low latency market segment. In addition to traditional incumbent providers like Verizon (NYSE: VZ), there's a growing set of new competitors including Cross River Fiber, Hudson Fiber Network (HFN), Sidera Networks, and Tata Communications.
