Local TV stations are sitting on a $40B OTT market opportunity

If there is one thing that consumers love, it's getting access to their local news and content from any location. However, the challenge for local TV stations to carry out-of-market streaming today is that it is limited to local newscasts due to copyrights around network programming.

Regardless of the challenges, FierceOnlineVideo says in a new feature, Local TV stations' day in the OTT sun: $40B market is theirs to take, if they can reach it, OTT represents a potentially large opportunity for local TV stations. A recent report by The Diffusion Group revealed that ad revenue for OTT streamed content will grow to $40 billion by 2020 and the ad load via broadband will grow 63 percent.
