NEC wraps up its purchase of Convergys' IM business

NEC Corp. and its NetCracker Technology subsidiary have completed their acquisition of Convergys' Information Management, a move that enables it to more effectively deliver services to both enterprise and service provider customers BSS/OSS (Operational Support Systems) solutions through the cloud, as a managed service, or as an in-premise system.

By completing the acquisition of IM assets, including its Smart Revenue Solutions, NEC claims it will have the "most comprehensive end-to-end BSS/OSS offering in the industry." These assets will enable NEC and NetCracker to target a wide set of verticals, including telecom, utilities, and logistics.

The IM business will be integrated into NetCracker Technology, and NetCracker will be responsible for all business operations of this entity.

NetCracker not only adds a new set of capabilities into their product fold, but also has the name recognition of NEC to target new BSS/OSS opportunities, as service providers look for more flexible platforms to deliver customers a host of new over the top and cloud-based service options.
