Nokia Siemens Networks appoints Samih Elhage as COO

As Nokia Siemens Networks continues its transition into becoming a company focused solely on the wireless sector, the vendor has named Samih Elhage as its chief operating officer.

Reporting to CEO Rajeev Suri, Elhage will lead the company's transformation of its mode of operations and business performance management.

Before taking up his new role at NSN, Elhage served as a senior advisor to a number of consulting firms that focused on investing and improving the operating performance of telecom vendors and service providers.

A 22-year telecom industry veteran, Elhage is probably best known as the president Carrier Voice over IP and Applications Solutions and vice president of Corporate Business Operations at Nortel. He also held leadership roles in Nortel's Optical, Broadband and Core Data Networks.

In addition to Elhage, NSN appointed Herbert Merz, the leader of its Global Operations and Optical Networks for Nokia Siemens Networks, as the head of its optical business.
