Optimum Lightpath partners on NYC telemedicine offer

Mention of telemedicine applications usually brings to mind a tiny clinic lodged up in the mountains far away from a major hospital, but of course, any medical facility benefits from being better connected. Now, Optimum Lightpath, the business Ethernet services unit of Cablevision Systems, is working with partner GetWellNetwork to promote what they call an Interactive Patient Care (IPC) solution for hospitals in the New York City area.

The partners' offering will allows in-room TVs at hospitals to be conduits for improved levels of information about patient care by giving the patients interactive, on-demand access to a variety of resources concerning their stays at the hospital, as well as post-treatment measures. Optimum Lightpath said it already counts "nearly 70 percent of New York metropolitan area hospitals and nearly 100 percent of Long Island, N.Y.'s hospitals" as customers.
