OTT video devices will drive up set-top market beyond $25B by 2022, says research firm

As the global pay-TV market changes the definition of what a set-top is, Grand View Research forecasts that the worldwide set-top market will reach $25.5 billion by 2022.

While earlier forecasts from IHS Research reported a slowdown of pay-TV STB sales for 2014, with the market decelerating from $15.9 billion to $15.3 billion, Grand View Research analysis takes into account over-the-top devices like Google's (NASDAQ: GOOG) Chromecast and Roku.

Leading the set-top box market is Arris with Technicolor, which purchased Cisco's CPE division last year, taking second place. Humax, Samsung, Echostar, Sagemcom, Skyworth and Huawei rank closely behind. FierceCable has this report.
