PCCW Global bows international connect platform that combines IP network with SDN

PCCW Global has taken the wraps off its international interconnect platform that combines SDN with its global IP network.

PCCW, which is a division of Hong Kong-based HKT, said its SDN-based interconnect platform features the software from its purchase of Console Connect last year blended with its global IP network.

The service, which is called Console Connect, is available across PCCW's 150-country footprint. The automation software can link data centers to each other and to cloud providers such as Amazon Web Services, Alibaba and Microsoft Azure. Cloud Connect plans to have all of the major cloud service providers, as well more software as a service providers, on board by the third quarter of this year.

The software-defined interconnections could also be used to privately connect commonly used applications and services such as video conferencing, unified communications, and service desks.

With Console Connect, customers are able to use one port and one cross-connect to set up their business applications while cloud partners can be connected with a single button click.

The platform also includes the tools that are needed to manage multiple secure direct connections, monitor connection performance and view bandwidth utilization and allocation. Customers are also able to dial up bandwidth on demand.
