PoE standard could get video extension

The IEEE Power over Ethernet 802.3at task force has submitted a new draft specification to be considered by the IEEE as Version 3.0 of the PoE standard. The new draft, called PoE Plus by the industry's Ethernet Alliance, would add support for video services to the existing 802.3at-2003 standard that already supports converged video and data services.

In related news, the Ethernet Alliance said it has added several new member companies.
