Platform9 and Intersect team up on unified cloud for Australia and New Zealand

Platform9 announced a partnership with research firm Intersect to provide managed hybrid cloud services throughout Australia and New Zealand.

Sunnyvale, California-based Platform9's software-as-a-service (SaaS) managed hybrid cloud gives organizations the ability to centrally manage virtual machines, containers and serverless functions on-premise, in the public cloud or at the network edge.

Platform9's SaaS hybrid cloud allows customers to plug into various environments, including Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud, Dell VMware, bare metal, and OpenStack, while also giving them a "single pane of glass" view of all of their workloads.

While telcos and enterprises are moving towards Kubernetes, it has been difficult to deploy and operate at scale, particularly for enterprises managing both on-premises and public cloud infrastructure, according to Platform9.

As a managed service, Platform9 can enable zero-touch upgrades, multi-cluster operations, monitoring, diagnostics and healing with a service level agreement (SLA) of 99.9 %, according to the company.

According to its website, Platform9 customers have seen a 300% improvement in IT efficiency while getting to market 33% faster than competing solutions.

Intersect, which is Australia's largest full-service e-research support agency, will tap into Platform9's managed services that includes managed OpenStack for virtualization, Kubernetes for containers and Fission.io for serverless functions in Australia and New Zealand. The deal includes guaranteed SLAs, uptime, quotas, compliance and resource monitoring.

"Our partnership with Intersect is an important step in our company growth strategy," said Keno Helmi, chief revenue officer at Platform9. "We've seen a huge increase in demand for our solution in Australia and New Zealand. We were impressed by Intersect's vision, technical expertise, and the trust they have established amongst their sophisticated customer base. We're excited to cement our partnership, in order to deliver the experience of 'hybrid cloud that just works' to the region."

Platform9 lists Splunk, Snapfish, Puppet and Cadence as some of its customers.  The company is backed by Redpoint Ventures, Menlo Ventures, Canvas Ventures and HPE.
