Norway's Telenor reported lower revenue and EBITDA for the third quarter, and the company also revised its outlook lower for the rest of this year. The Norwegian telco has been quick to expand into new markets, especially in Asia, as its native wireline business has faced challenges and declines familiar to any wireline operator around the world at this point.
However, some of Telenor's Asian ventures have faced stiff competition and have yet to pay off, a reminder for telcos that while they must expand and diversify, new investments won't always provide immediate returns.
