A hardware failure at a Qwest Communications switching center in Denver knocked out service to Qwest broadband business and residential customers in downtown Denver, as well as customers of major wireless carriers in the Denver market that rely on Qwest's network facilities. Service was restored for some customers within an hour after the failure, which occurred just after 4 p.m. Mountain Time on Thursday.
