SARENET selects Overture for its EoC initiative

SARENET, a Spanish competitive provider focused on the business market, on Tuesday chose Overture Networks for its Ethernet over Copper (EoC) service drive.

Offering business customers up to 20 Mbps speeds, with the possibility to scale to 60 Mbps in some areas, the service provider will deploy Overture's 4000 and 400 EoC-based platforms.

As the demarcation device that resides at the customer premise, the 400 platform enables SARENET to deliver EoC service to its customer premise, while the 4000 aggregation platform performs centralized management and switching for up to 120 of the Overture 400s.

What attracted SARENET, which is using unbundled local loop facilities from local exchange providers to deliver its EoC service to Overture Networks, was its service management capabilities and quality of service management controls.

"The Overture Carrier Ethernet solution provides increased bandwidth capability, flexible QoS and superior reliability as well as a number of service management tools that ensure we can deliver on our commitment to our valued customers," said Alberto Alvarez, director tecnico at SARENET, in a press release.

Following its EoC deal with GTS CE in September, the SARENET win is another proof point Overture can use as it continues to hone its broader strategy to expand its presence outside of its U.S. stronghold.

Over the past six months, the vendor has also upped its presence in a number of key EMEA and Asia Pacific countries, including India, Italy, Malaysia and Russia. Likewise, Overture has made additional efforts to bolster its sales efforts in both Canada and the Caribbean and the Latin American markets.
