SaskTel International serves up new SaaS OSS suite

SaskTel International (SI) has introduced a new suite of Operations Support Systems (OSS) software services via a new Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) model targeting the back office needs of its service provider customers.

Hosted out of SaskTel International's parent company's data centers, the SaaS-enabled software can serve the dual role for fulfillment and assurance of services while managing IT and software related expenses. SI said that each of these data center locations implement security measures to protect against environmental and human threats as well as high availability and performance capabilities to ensure undisrupted, optimal operation.

Although OSS platforms had been traditionally deployed on-premise, the emerging of SaaS-based software can address a service provider's need to rapidly deploy OSS solutions while reducing risk and capital investment.

Offered on a hosted subscription model, SI's SaaS solution enables CSPs to bypass the significant upfront and ongoing cost of IT infrastructure and resources required for deploying on-site instances of software. One of the other potential benefits of the software approach is that unlike on-premise software implementations, SaaS platforms can scale with emerging business demands without having to pay significant IT expenses.

"With the new solution, CSPs can drive new levels of efficiencies and cost savings into business operations, but do so with a low initial investment and a predictable expense structure," said Curtis Adair, COO at SI, in a release.
