Sidera Networks to acquire Long Island Fiber Exchange

Sidera Networks may be just a few months old, but the competitive provider's purchase of Long Island Fiber Exchange, Inc. ("LIFE") shows that it sees M&A as a key element of its growth strategy.

By acquiring LIFE, a facilities-based network service provider that serves customers on Long Island, New York, and in Westchester County, N.Y., Sidera instantly enhances its network reach with 900 miles of fiber and 550 lit buildings.

Ever since it was formed after Abry Partners purchased the former RCN Corp., including its business and wholesale arm RCN Metro, Sidera has continued to be active on the M&A front. Late last month, Sidera purchased Cross Connect Solutions to expand its data center and cloud services presence in its Philadelphia serving area.

Set to be completed by Dec. 31 this year, Sidera did not disclose the terms of its acquisition of LIFE.
