Sizing up the cable industry in Q2 2012

Cable Q2 2012 earningsAs the cable industry's players begin revealing their Q2 2012 results, FierceTelecom's sister publication FierceCable is there capturing all of the quarterly reports. Steve Donohue, FierceCable's editor notes that "the second quarter is traditionally a volatile period for pay-TV distributors, as many college students cancel service at the end of the school year." The challenge, adds Donohue, is that for cable MSOs--particularly Cablevision (NYSE: CVC) and Charter Communications (Nasdaq: CHTR), which both saw subscriber gains in Q1 2012--lies in their ability to sustain growth during the second quarter.
