SPOTLIGHT: 2Wire boost home network intelligence

Home networking technology firm 2Wire has announced a new intelligent home server and place-shifting content access platform that could boost the content management capabilities IPTV and broadband service providers can offer to their residential customers. The home server offers network storage for content and increased ability for system-built content libraries, while 2Wire Shifter allows remote access to that content.

Yesterday also saw news that Netflix will begin offering movies over TV, so the long-anticipated battle to control access to content on the home network may finally be starting in earnest.
