SPOTLIGHT: AT&T expands Dish, drops DirecTV


AT&T has starting selling Dish Network (formerly EchoStar DISH) satellite TV service exclusively in the nine-state former BellSouth region. The move follows last year's announcement from AT&T that it would end the long-standing arrangement under which BellSouth and later AT&T re-sold DirecTV in the southeast. At one point, AT&T was rumored to be interested in acquiring EchoStar, but that talk seems to have faded.
