Is it live or is it telepresence? To partially paraphrase the famous ad for Memorex, that's the question makers of so-called telepresence conferencing gear would like everyone asking. Cisco Systems and Nortel Networks (which works with conferencing specialist Polycom) have been the two major vendors most loudly touting telepresence technology for its life-like video, audio and scale capabilities. Telepresence has seemed like a pet project this year for Cisco in particular.
