SPOTLIGHT: Sling Media preps DOCSIS box


While Sling Media was getting acquired last week by EchoStar Communications, it was revealed that the consumer electronics vendor's latest Slingbox reportedly had earned DOCSIS 2.0 cable modem certification from CableLabs. The product is not available yet, and neither Sling Media nor CableLabs will confirm the certification, but it appears numerous details of the product and certification have leaked out. Incorporating cable modem capabilities likely will make set-up and operation of the Slingbox more seamless.
