Canadian carrier Telus has bid $744 million ($763 million, fully-diluted) to acquire Emergis, a fellow Canadian company focused on transaction processing in health care and financial services industries. Such a deal could supplement business Telus already does in those sectors. Is it a good match? Emergis was once spun-off from Bell Canada, which apparently didn't see transaction processing as necessary to have under its own roof.
