SPOTLIGHT: Verizon FiOS turns two


When industry observers talk about the future of telcos and IPTV, they sometimes want to leave Verizon Communications out of the discussion, even though Verizon's FiOS is still the most successful video offering by a telco in the United States. It's because FiOS works, looks and feels a lot more like cable TV than true IPTV with interactive features. However, as Verizon completes its second year of FiOS deployment, the carrier is looking past cable-like programming to the possibilities of new features over a network with telco-grade reliability.
