SPOTLIGHT: Verizon sells FiOS via infomercial

There are a lot of different ways to sell broadband, but Verizon Communications is going back to an old standby, the TV infomercial, to sell customers on the advantages of its FiOS broadband upgrade. The "My Home 2.0" infomercial is shot and plotted in the style of "Extreme Makeover," with broadband technology gurus (rather than home contractors and interior designers) dispatched to a customer's home to retrofit, outfit and otherwise future-proof the domicile for a new broadband era. No word on whether Verizon will give away a Pocket Fisherman and a free copy of "Natural Cures They Don't Want You to Know About," with each new FiOS subscription.
