Managed service provider Virtela Communications, which serves multi-national customers around the world, could have been harshly affected by recent undersea cable cuts in the Mediterranean Sea. However, the company responded to its monitoring system alarms quickly and was able to re-route much traffic to alternative landlines with only some additional latency, and not hard outages.
