This week's VON trade show in Boston proved to be a showcase for efforts to reach into the small and medium-sized business market with VoIP and unified communications applications. Nortel offered carriers a VoIP strategy for the SMB market, while companies such as Allworx (recently acquired by CLEC Paetec), Firsthand and D2 technologies, among others, showed off the new unified communications solutions.
