SureWest, Consolidated name leaders of merger transition team

As Consolidated Communications (Nasdaq: CNSL) moves ahead with its acquisition of SureWest (Nasdaq: SURW), the two service providers have appointed their CFOs--Dan Bessey, SureWest's chief financial officer, and Steve Childers, Consolidated's CFO--to lead the transition team.

Bessey and Childers, who have been named transition officers, will conduct the integration of the two telcos as they complete their merger.

In addition to ensuring the transition of accounting and financial reporting during the merger process, they will be the coordination points for integration in other parts of the two companies and ensure both SureWest and Consolidated will independently run until after the deal is completed.

Steve Oldham, SureWest's CEO, revealed the transition officers to his employees in an email last Tuesday. The email was logged with the Securities and Exchange Commission on Wednesday.
