Independent telco SureWest Communications has launched a VoIP service branded as Digital Phone as part of its triple play service bundle, and also is making available a multi-stream high-definition digital video recorder service for the TV part of its bundle.
Like many other telcos, SureWest has watched landline numbers decline, and while it has ramped up an M&A strategy to bring in more cash flow, the carrier must feel that the timing is right for VoIP to enhance its ability to sell and realize more profit from service bundles.
