TDS launches WiMAX in Wisconsin

Publisher's Note:

I wanted to share some exciting news with you... Today we announced the sale of FierceMarkets, our publisher, to Questex Media, a Boston-based B2B media company. Here is the press release. For the time being, FierceMarkets will remain an independent entity led our existing team here in Washington, DC, and this will not impact any of our services to you. Over time, we expect this to open up new opportunities to add value to readers and advertisers, and to rapidly expand into new markets. Personally, I am excited to continue our strong growth as part of Questex. Most of all, I am grateful to readers like you, and to all of the other people who have contributed to our growth. I and the rest of the FierceMarkets team will continue to serve you to our best abilities. Onwards and upwards!

Jeff Giesea
President, FierceMarkets Inc.

Just as our newsletter was running up against its deadline, Wisconsin-based independent telco TDS announced a commercial roll-out of WiMAX services, including broadband data and VoIP in Madison, Wis. TDS vendor Alvarion called it the first commercial launch of WiMAX in North America with both VoIP and data as lead services. Check FierceTelecom.com later today for a detailed story on this launch. - Dan
