Telefonica adapts ASSIA’s cloud-based software to manage Latin America residential Wi-Fi

Telefonica has chosen ASSIA’s CloudCheck software platform to manage residential Wi-Fi services across its Latin America network footprint, enabling the service provider to improve performance and service delivery to its growing base of copper and fiber-based broadband subscribers.

As a big-data-analytics and machine-learning platform, CloudCheck enables Telefonica call-center agents and field technicians proactively to detect and resolve subscriber Wi-Fi issues while automatically optimizing Wi-Fi performance for their subscribers.

As a result, ASSIA claiams Telefonica cannot only improve customer experience, but also drive down support costs “significantly.”

“Telefonica has been evaluating other solutions for quite some time,” said Dave Raun, president of ASSIA in an interview with FierceTelecom. “We’re going to be able to support the new router platforms they deploy and to residential subscribers and help them support their legacy systems that are already in the field.”

CloudCheck is the latest addition to the suite of ASSIA software solutions currently deployed at Telefonica in Latin America: DSL Expresse software for diagnostics and optimization of DSL networks, GPON Expresse software for diagnostics of GPON networks, and ClearView software for precise network analysis and recommendations for customer care agents and field technicians.

Since Telefonica already uses other ASSIA products, the service provider already has a familiarity with the vendor and can now have one user interface to get a view into how its entire copper and fiber broadband networks are operating.

By implementing CloudCheck and ClearView software, Telefonica now has end-to-end network visibility and management from the CO into the home.

From an operational standpoint, the focus for Telefonica is to be more efficient in serving its mix of copper-based DSL and FTTH subscribers that leverage Wi-Fi as the home networking platform.

“We have a long relationship with Telefonica and this latest agreement adds to that,” said Kevin Mukai, director of product marketing for ASSIA. Kevin Mukai, CloudCheck product line director

for ASSIA. “It’s a natural progression and evolution for them to add the Wi-Fi management solution.”

CloudCheck is currently under commercial deployment in several Telefonica affiliates. While Latin America is the first target for CloudCheck, Telefonica will be implementing the product across its other regions over time.
