Tinet ups its U.S. presence

Wholesale IP and Ethernet provider Tinet continues to enhance its North American network presence. During the last quarter, Tinet acquired 25 long haul backbone circuits throughout the U.S. and opened three additional network points of presence in Newark, N.J., Dallas, Texas, and Denver, Colo. In addition, Tinet began building its third Network Operations Center in New Jersey, which will be completed in Q1 2010.

It has been quite a year for Tinet. Formerly known as the Tiscali International Network, the company was purchased by Italian equity firm BS Private Equity SpA this May. Tinet argues the private equity firm's ownership will allow them to pursue further expansion.

"We've had an exciting year thus far and look forward to further network expansion next year; expanding into new regions which are showing fast-growing connectivity demands," Maurizio Binello, chief operating officer of Tinet, said in a press release. "Through this expansion we can give customers in new markets more choice, as well as extending our geographic reach to better fulfill existing customer requirements."
