tw telecom (Nasdaq: TWTC) has revealed that Memphis, Tenn., and Orange County, Calif., are the two latest markets targeted for network expansion as part of its nationwide effort.
In Memphis, the service provider is complementing its existing network footprint by adding about 100 new route miles of fiber.
This expansion will extend the network footprint from Memphis east to Germantown and Collierville, as well as north to Millington, including access and connection capabilities to the Millington Naval Base. It will leverage this latest expansion effort to deliver its suite of Ethernet and VPN services to more area businesses.
Meanwhile, in Orange County tw telecom will expand its existing market reach across nine area cities.
Although it did not specify how much fiber it will install, the target cities include: Brea, Buena Park, Cypress, East Anaheim, Fullerton, Huntington Beach, Los Alamitos, Seal Beach and Westminster.
Both of these network expansions in Memphis and Orange County are driven by growth and demand from existing customer bases and prospective customers. It has also announced that it intends to expand its network capabilities in the Colorado Springs market with plans to nearly double its network reach in southern Colorado.
These recent network expansions are part of a multi-market initiative to expand its metro fiber footprint by about 17 percent throughout the U.S. Through this expansion effort, the service provider said it plans to enter five new markets--including Boston, Cleveland, Philadelphia, Richmond, Va., and Salt Lake City--and increase the density of its metro fiber footprint in 28 existing markets.
