ValleyFiber backs FTTP for rural markets

Who: ValleyFiber

Vitals: ValleyFiber is not a service provider per se, but a non-profit organization driving the construction of fiber networks in communities throughout Vermont. It is directed by Timothy Nulty, who was involved in the Burlington Telecom project to build a municipal fiber network in Burlington, Vt.

Why you should care: Widespread rural markets with lower population density never have seemed like a good fit for fiber-to-the-premises technology, but Nulty disputed that notion in comments he made this week at the Broadband Properties Summit.
