Verizon Business certifies Overture gear

Verizon Business has certified Ethernet access gear from vendor Overture Networks to work with the carrier's Ethernet services. The Overture gear can do Ethernet over copper or fiber, and the vote of confidence by a Tier 1 U.S. carrier should help give Overture a boost in the tightly competitive markets for Ethernet aggregation and access equipment.

Network certification is one of the baby steps Tier 1 carriers often take before actually buying equipment and deploying gear in their networks, but in a market increasing dominated by vendor giants, the ability of Ethernet specialists like Overture or Hatteras Networks to squeeze through is significant.
