Verizon creates FiOS web mail

Verizon Communications has hired Laszlo Systems to create Verizon-branded Web mail software and applications that will be extended to the carrier's FiOS customers. The Web mail offering is designed to look and feel like a desktop e-mail client.

We're always talking about how the giants of the Internet universe are infringing on the territory of telcos, so it's good to see telcos doing the same in an area owned by AOL, Yahoo!, Google and Microsoft. It may be a small step in that direction, but the new experience selling web mail software is what counts.
