Verizon (NYSE: VZ) is looking to entice more FiOS Fiber to the Home (FTTH) subscribers by offering new triple-play customers the chance to lock their monthly rate for two years if they sign up for service before April 19.
Eligible customers will be able to get three new features: a free upgrade to its 50/25 Mbps Quantum data tier; FiOS TV Prime HD with over 215 channels; and FiOS Digital Voice home phone service with unlimited nationwide calling.
Mike Ritter, chief marketing officer for the consumer and mass business unit of Verizon, said in a release that prospective customers have said they want price assurance when they switch providers.
Verizon is offering the promotion with four different options. Customers who sign up online can get the service with no annual contract for $89.99 for two years; those who sign up for a two-year agreement also get a $250 Visa prepaid card.
For those customers who don't order the service online, they can get FiOS with an annual contract for $99.99 a month for two years or a two-year agreement. Similar to the online deal, customers who choose the two-year agreement will get the $250 Visa prepaid card.
This promotion comes at a time when more of its FiOS customers are signing up for the Quantum tiers. The telco said that at the end of 2013, 46 percent of all Verizon consumer FiOS Internet customers subscribed to FiOS Quantum speeds ranging from 50/25 to 500/100 Mbps.
FiOS also continues to be a major factor in Verizon's quarterly wireline results.
During the fourth quarter of 2013, the telco added 126,000 net new FiOS connections and 92,000 FiOS video connections. It ended the quarter with a total of 6.1 million FiOS Internet and 5.3 million FiOS video subscribers, up 11.9 and 11.3 percent year-over-year, respectively.
